The Lower Portals of Mount Barney is, in my opinion, the finest swimming hole in all of Brisbane. It’s not particularly well known, and that adds to the serenity and charm of a spot like this.
It’s turn off is at the base of Mount Barney, down a little dirt road. There’s a little cafe up a bit further if you get lost and need directions- I certainly did!
The hike is roughly seven or so kilometers long but it’s absolutely worth it when the pools finally come into view. If you’re daring enough, you can swim to the other side, climb up the rocks there and launch off into the air, ending up in the deepest section of the pool.
Stay tuned for more, but, more importantly, Stay Alfresco!
